My name is Brian Prather. I am married and a father of two, a daughter and a son, and we live in Laguna Niguel, California. I reinjured my neck in April 2026 and have been bedridden for the last four months. I have been on short term disability with no pay, enduring severe physical and mental pain, including a dozen procedures, surgeries, and hospital visits.

I am raising support for a stem cell procedure because I have tried every medical procedure and treatment legally available in the U.S., and this is the final puzzle piece I need to heal. Without this procedure I fear I may never get back to normal or work again, and I am doing everything I can to protect my family.

His service and career

Brian spent almost 10 years on active duty in the U.S. Army as a surface-to-air missile defender, supporting operations overseas out of Okinawa for the threat in North Korea, including tasking in Thailand, South Korea, and mainland Japan.

In 2010 he reclassed to contracting officer and supported U.S. Southern Command for contracting mission support in Central and South America, as well as 3rd Infantry Division for their NTC deployment to Afghanistan. He was medically retired in 2013 after breaking his spine and undergoing several spinal fusions.

After the Army, Brian spent 13 years in tech building startups and working at large tech companies, specifically advocating for veterans and helping vets get hired in tech. That work earned him a national award as the 2021 Veteran Champion of the Year in Corporate America from GI Jobs magazine. The last five years he has focused on building AI startups and raising his family.

What he is seeking treatment for

A neck injury with bulging discs in C4 to C7, nerve compression, an SCM strain, a torn neck tendon, and low back pain in the L4-L5-S1 fusion areas.

How this affects daily life

Brian lives in chronic pain and relies on a spinal cord stimulator and pain medication just to function and work. He is limited at times in physical ability, including playing with his kids, but tries to stay as active as possible. Since the neck injury he has been bedridden for four months.

What he is hoping to achieve

Full range of motion, relief from severe vertigo and nausea, an end to brain fog and neuropathy, and decreased neck and back pain.
