California expands CalVet outreach to women veterans and rural counties

By Veterans of California Editorial · June 19, 2026

CalVet announced an expansion of its outreach programs targeting underserved women veterans and veterans in California's rural counties, including new mobile claims clinics and partnerships with community organizations.

The California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet) has announced an expanded statewide outreach initiative aimed at connecting more women veterans and veterans living in rural counties with the benefits they have earned.

The initiative includes a new schedule of mobile claims clinics, expanded partnerships with community-based veteran service organizations, and additional bilingual staff support. CalVet officials cited persistent gaps in benefits enrollment among women veterans — who remain the fastest-growing segment of the California veteran population — and among veterans in counties without a permanent VA presence.

Local organizations such as the Women Veterans Alliance and county Veterans Service Offices will be partnering on outreach events throughout 2026. Veterans can find their nearest County Veterans Service Office (CVSO) and upcoming clinic dates on the CalVet website.

Veterans of California will continue tracking the rollout, including hearing dates for related legislation and budget items in Sacramento.
